Artist Bio
I started making flutes in the summer of 2003 after buying my first flute at a Pow Wow.
After struggling for a few months, I met Dan Haviland, a flute maker with some 15
years of experience. With Dan's help, I am now able to make some of the finest sounding
flutes available. All of my flutes are concert tuned to the minor pentatonic scale. I make
seven basic keys, but am able to make almost any mid-range key flute. I especially
enjoy doing custom work for customers with something specific in mind. I don't usually
do a lot of fancy carving work on my flutes simply because I try to keep the cost down
and make the flutes affordable for everyone. Most of my attention is given to sound
quality. I've picked up too many beautifully carved flutes that were nearly unplayable,
or which had very poor sound quality. My experience shows me that the really serious flute players are not concerned with appearances. They simply wantsomething that sounds great, is dependable, plays easily, and is in tune. That is my goal with every flute I make.
